Compatibility with Squeezeboxes

Hello all,

I have just discovered VOCO this morning in my local computer store's weekly circular and I am glad to see a company make use of the powerful Logitech Media Server.

Owning to Squeezebox Radios and running version 7.8.0 of the server on a linux computer, I wonder if I could add a V-Spot in the mix (and installing the VOCO plugin).

- Would I need to run two different servers on my computer or could I feed the Squeexebox Radios and the V-Spot with the same server?

- Would I be able to synchronize VOCO and Squeezebox devices together?

Thanks,
Bizuth

Hi,

I would like to know if you have a solution to point the local music server of a VZone to a Network Drive. The idea is to not use a USB Drive to store the music but a share folder on a network drive.

Any solution to use a syntaxe like \\192.168.1.100\music as music folder ?

Problem with Spotify integration

After installing LMS v7.8.0, along with both Spotify plugins, I followed the instructions in the thread entitled "How to enter Spotify credentials" and then restarted the server. However, when I go to the ONLINE SERVICES screen in the Android VOCO app (v2.5), Spotify does not appear. I am logged into my MyVOCO.net account and am a Spotify Premium user. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I now use WinAmp to listen to music on my PC playing through high end BOSE speakers. I do not use the WinAmp library. All selections are made by finding the folder in Windows Explorer and right clicking. I'd like the music selected here on my PC to be able to follow me around the house. My first step is to replace WinAmp. I think.

I installed the Logitech Media Server. I can go to My Music and see my collection. But when I try to play it nothing happens. In Settings, under the Player tab, it states that my player was not found. Then, if you do not own any hardware, to install SoftSqueeze. I did. I got a very retro radio face and remote control. [With a computer in front of me, why use an obsolescent way to select music?] But back at My Music the albums still do not play.

The page continues with Winamp can be used to listen by connecting to this URL: http://localhost:9000/stream.mp3

But what do I do with that? I clicked it. Nothing seemed to happen. I want to play mostly FLACs, not MP3s.

What I want is something I can right click on a folder and choose either play or enqueue. It will play locally, like WinAmp does, and be available to spread around the house.

How do I get albums or playlists to play continually?

Have downloaded my entire 800 CD audio discs to USB hard drive, plugged into my VOCO. It plays only one song at a time and stops. How can I get it to play an album or playlist continuously, like Pandora plays? Thank you

iTunes Audio CD's

I have purchased many Audio CD's on iTunes. Before VOCO, burned them to CD Discs and played them on whole-house audio from (2) 400-Disk Sony CD Changers. The metatags and the tracks were not used in this.

So...today, with VOCO, I'd like to download my purchased ITunes albums WITH TRACK DATA. Either rip direct to my hard disk running the rest of my CD collection on VOCO; or rip to CD with Tracks and then rip and move to the Hard disk. I cannot figure out how to keep the Metatag Track names and do this. Suggestions??

WIFI all-around

Hi everyone,

Where I live, the construction codes require very heavy steel-reinforced concrete walls everywhere. This makes our homes safe, despite the high seismicity of our country. However, it also makes our homes a nightmare in terms of WiFi coverage. We essentially live inside arrays of Faraday cages. Even for a small house, we have difficulties getting WIFI coverage a couple of rooms away from the router.

The solution? When they were building my house, I made sure I had ethernet cables coming from the central panel where I keep my router to each room in the house. So, I can put access-points in the places where I need a little boost.

Fortunately, my VOCO devices can be configured as Hotspots (or access-points). So, I did this:

  1. I plugged in a Vspot in my living room and a Vzone+ in my bedroom, both connected to the ethernet jacks on my walls.
  2. I configured my main router to use WPAPSK-TKIP/WPA2PSK-AES which is the default for the VOCO devices.
  3. I went into my VOCO app on my phone and connected to my main router. I had to walk into the room that houses the main router to make sure I had a good connection.
  4. Since the devices are connected via ethernet, they appeared in my app right away.
  5. I selected the Vspot, I went into the settings menu (the gears icon in the zones list).
  6. I selected "Name Device" and renamed it "Sala" (living room) to easily identify it.
  7. Then, I selected "Zone HotSpot Configuration" and a pop-up dialog apaeared.
  8. In the dialog, I ticked the "Enable HotSpot" and the "Use Encryption (WPA/PSK)" checkboxes.
  9. In the "SSID/Hotspot Name:" field I wrote the exact same SSID for my main router.
  10. In the "Key:" field I wrote the exact same key I use for my main router.
  11. I repeated the steps 5-10 above for the Vzone+, but using the name "Cuarto" (bedroom).

Now my devices connect to the most convenient access-point and seamlessly work with my network as if it was a single system. No more spotty WiFi and my device does not have to struggle reconnecting to one network or the other to find the better one. And as a bonus, I can play music on my living room or play Youtube videos on my TV in my room!

Having my music players be my WiFi expanders has decreased the number of cables and devices I have setup around in my house and improved my WiFi and audio experience a lot.

Do you have to have a voco device.

This maybe a really silly question...

Been using LMS for years, and wanted to use voice control for playing my music. Found VOCO in the app store.

Is it possible to use the Voco Control app with LMS with the voco plugin without the actual device?

James

Is Voco just a bit s**t?

Hi,

I am at the end of my rope. I have now had a Voco system for over a year, and have had very little enjoyment from it. I have 2 x V-Zone+ units and a V-Spot.

My network is stable, and everything is connected via Ethernet. But I can hardly use it.

I am running LMS 7.8.0 on a Mac Mini running OSX 10.6.8

The LMS constantly crashes and I then have to restart the MacMini. The Voco units just hang on "waiting for server". This is triggered by me just wanting to listen to some music. Sometimes it works for a few weeks, other times only a few days.

The iOS app quits constantly. Whenever I scroll down the list of artists or albums, if it reaches the bottom of the screen or has to scroll past 20 or more, it just quits and then when I restart it asks if I want to send a report. I always do, but after more than a year of trying to use the system, nothing seems to be fixed.

I would love to run the LMS on a newer computer, but you don't support Maverick, Yesomite or El Capitan, and I can not back-date my other mac.

What am I doing wrong, if anything?

I am very close to selling the lot and just buying Sonos.

Thanks
